Some things are region-free DVD player, will play a DVD, I do not know in the U.S. allowing for the region to freely sell, they need to circumvent the region coding, which makes it illegal.

Like a good DVD player, unfortunately I do not know as much as I can not help you.

I can tell you if your desire to rip your DVD or buy the UMD, the PSP is a not hear when the best notebook on the market for watching videos, music, play games and generally do not take to all of their portable media.
